Saturday's Story

I had another amazing night's sleep (hell, I don't sleep this good when I'm healthy!) As I said, I went to bed around midnight, woke up for a bathroom break at 5:00 AM, lay back down and slept until almost 8:00 AM!

Lu called a little while later, saying she was on her way and had decided to drive straight through! Damn! No working on the lawn mower today, I guess. I gotta get this house in shape.

Now, normally when I have house guests, I spend the previous week "deep cleaning" each room. I pick one room a night, dust it, clean the cat hair off, polish the wood surfaces, vacuum, dust mop, etc. Well, this week I've been sick, so no time for that. So, I did my usual weekend cleaning, minus washing the downstairs or the kitchen floor.

Jake and Carla stopped over. He wanted to borrow my meat grinder to make sausage this weekend. Carla stayed outside (smart girl)and both of them held their hands over their mouths and noses. It was hilarious!

The house is better now, but still not how I would like it to be. I did lie down every now and then (I had to) but finished up about 4:00 PM.

I set my alarm for 6:30 PM and took a nap. Lu showed up just after 8:00 PM, in a light drizzle. I helped her get some of her stuff inside. She arranged the stuff in the office and I sat on the couch.

She had stopped and got some stuff (one of the times she called to give me a progress report, I mentioned I hadn't gone shopping yet and there was NOTHING in the house for her to eat). She also picked up two bottles of something called G2, which she says is like Gatoraid, but with less sugar. She says I need to get my electrolytes (?) back up.

During our discussion, we decided it wasn't the stomach flu, but rather food poisoning from the old condensed milk I used in Tuesday soup.

She was whipped from the long drive and I was whipped in general so we went to bed just after 10:00 PM.

I was reading a magazine that home come today when another thunderstorm blew in. This one was noisier, but it didn't sound like the rain was as hard.

That was an illusion as, Sunday morning, the low spots in the back yard were all flooded and there was another two inches of rain in the rain gauge!!!
