Tuesday

This time the thunderstorm did wake me up at around 3:00 AM Tuesday morning. I guess parts of Redford were hit hard (trees and power lines down, etc.), but here it just was a brief, heavy rain. I listened to it on the windows until it lulled me back to sleep. I checked the rain gauge in the morning nd we picked up a half inch overnight.

At lunchtime, I went over to the grass cutting place and paid my bill. I told them I'd fixed the mower so, hopefully, I will no longer require their services.

After work, I treated the cats and changed clothes. I straightened up the house a bit and then went out to work on the mower.

I put on the threadlocker with a Q-tip and then put on the other nut. I held the first nut in place with a wrench and tightened the new one to it.

Next, I cut a piece of 2 x 4 on a 45 degree angle to make a little gauge to level the deck. I slid it under the fixed-height side and marked on the wood where the deck hit it. I checked the other side and it was off (It's hard to read a tape measure accurately with bifocals!) So, I got out the sockets and reset that side.

I was going to do the back-to-front adjustment (the front has to be 1/4 inch lower than the rear) but the phone rang. When I went into the house, it was after 7:00 PM! It's supposed to rain on Wednesday, so I'll do it then.

I turned on the stove fan and preheated the oven to 400 degrees. I put half a pound of bacon on a rack, peppered it and stuck it in the oven when it was heated. I checked it at seven minutes, decided it need a bit more time and took it out when it just started to get crispy.

Lu had left a bunch of tomatoes (she was using them in her salads) so I need to eat them fast. What better way to start than BLTs! So, I toasted some sourdough bread, got some of that leaf lettuce, cut up a tomato and, using a little mayo and salt, built my dinner sandwich. It was excellent!

I watched some TV, but went to bed at 10:00 PM.
