Wednesday

Wednesday was weird. I had been waiting all day for the repair shop to call and let me know their preliminary findings.

At lunch, I had the last knackwurst and two ears of sweet corn.

I gave up waiting at 4:00 PM and called Sam the mechanic. He said they had been flushing it out all day and still hadn't got all of the anti-freeze/oil gel out. He sent a guy to buy some special coolant flush additive and would complete it Thursday morning. But, he said, he had NO idea what's wrong (so much for that year's warranty on parts and service). He suggested I take it to a Volvo dealer and have them look at it.

Damn! So, I called the closest dealer (in Troy, about 45 minutes from here) and made an appointment for Friday morning. Lu will be here until about noon, so she can follow me and take me back home. If and when they fix it, though, I have no idea how I will get it back here.

After work, I did some little projects: cut half a watermelon into chunks, washed a load of clothes, fixed a loose toilet seat, vacuumed the carpet in the living room along with the two walk-off rugs, watered the container garden and weeded the raised bed garden.

It was about 7:00 PM and I was getting hungry. So, I cut up two redskin potatoes and put them on to boil. Then I warmed up two pieces of meatloaf and half a jar of beef gravy. I plated the drained potatoes and the meatloaf, added a little butter and salt to the potatoes, topped them both with the gravy and went in to watch TV.

I fell asleep, so I don't know when Lu got back. But she was there and putting her stuff away when I woke up at 10:00 PM. We chatted for a bit, and then I went to bed.

Tell Ms. Lu that the fragarant flower on my front porch is "Heliotrope (Heliotropium Arborescens) Deep purple flowers, boasting a wonderful, intense, fruity fragrance.
