I slept lousy on Saturday night, so I did sleep in a little on Sunday morning (I got up at 7:00 AM). I filled in the rather extensive Blog entry and posted a bunch of pictures. I finished up around 9:00.
I cooked up six hard boiled eggs, for either snacks or deviled eggs, later. My friend B___ called and we chatted for a while. Other than Joe's graduation party (big event for me), there was not much new news for either of us. He did say his lawn toasted, too. He didn't want to spend the money to water it, so he's only been doing his wife's flower gardens.
About 11:00 AM, I went out and trimmed the back lawn with the push mower (there are many places, like behind the raised bed garden, where the big mower doesn't fit).
I was tying up the rest of tomatoes (some of them are a good 12 inches ABOVE the highest board I erected) when my neighbor came to the fence. He asked if my lawn mower was broke again. I explained I was just trimming.
We chatted a bit. He brought up the unusual amount of mosquitoes this year and said he was thinking about buying a bat house "like mine." (Huh?) He pointed to the box on the tree and I explained that wasn't a bat house, its where I put the summer toys (horseshoes, Frisbee, etc.) But, I agreed a bat house would be good. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I might buy or build one.
I complimented him on his garden. He laughed and said my tomatoes make his look sick (LOL, they do!) He walked into his garden and gave me two nice-sized cucumbers.
I put on more garden dust and fertilized the rose bushes out back. Then I went in and made my (and I think my Mother's) all-time favorite summer sandwich: just bread, mayo, sliced cucumbers and a lot of salt.
I ate my breakfast/lunch at 2:00 PM, reading the new book again.
Eventually fell asleep. Woke up around 5:30 PM. Walked to the bathroom and got a shock! It was sunny outside (as it was when I went to sleep) but it had apparently rained and rained hard. Plus, tree branches (some big) littered the back yard! WTF? I went out and checked the rain gauge and it had over 1/2 inches in it! So, that means I completely wasted all that water, not to mention the garden dust (sigh). I walked the backyard first, picking up the tree branch litter. Then I went out front and did the same.
I was back inside before 7:00 PM. I finished the book. Jake was right - it was a bit lame. You knew halfway through who the killer was, you just had to wait to see how she was caught.
I got out of my clothes and got ready for my Sunday night TV shows. I watched them and then the news and went to bed at 11:30 PM.
