(Why do all of you sickos imagine I'm dead if I don't post the damned Blog before 7:00 AM?)
Again, I slept crappy. I finally woke up just after 7:00 AM. It was overcast and drizzling. For some reason (although I am not that fond of sweet food) I had an overwhelming hankering for blueberry pancakes.
The problem was I had no blueberries... But I suppose I can cope.
So, I dug out that little booklet we always used for our pancake recipe. I think it's the only recipe we ever used in that booklet. We got it back in the 70's from our congressman (Jim O'Hara, at the time). The funny thing is that Sadie has the same booklet from her congressman (I forget his name) so it must have been some kind of national thing.
So, I made the dry ingredients: two cups of flour, four teaspoons of baking powder, one teaspoon salt and two tablespoons of sugar. Then I made up the wet ones: one egg, well beaten, 1 3/4 cup of whole milk and 1/3 cup of oil.
Note: If you were making waffles, all you have to do is increase the eggs to three. But, I don't have a waffle iron.
I mixed the dry ingredients and then added the wet ones, while my electric grill got up to temp. Then I used my 1/4 cup measuring scoop to put four down (this recipe makes twelve four-inch pancakes, BTW.) When the cakes stopped making bubbles and the edges looked slightly dry, I flipped them. Perfect!
I saved the first six for tomorrow and on the last six I spread Smucker's "Simply Blackberry" on each pancake. I like blackberries; they were my favorite berry back on the farm on 24 Mile Road, growing up.
I warmed the pure maple syrup up in the microwave, added some butter and topped the stack with syrup. Yumo!
Hell, I wish I could come up with more stuff about Saturday. But, all I did was read the motorcycle's owner's guide, talk to Melissa for a bit and then later on B___ called.
Since I didn't get to the store, I settled for comfort food for my supper. I made tomato soup (in a big coffee cup) and a toasted cheese sandwich.
I watched TV until I was tired and then went to bed.
How about today? Are you dead?

If you are still kicking it with the living, how did you celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day?
