Counter Intelligence

It was seven freakin’ degrees F. when I woke up at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, with that same damn 10-15 MPH wind. It’s the wind that kills ya!

Since my counter had been stripped and washed, I couldn’t make a pot of coffee, so I heated up a cup of water in the microwave, added the instant coffee I keep in the freezer for emergencies, put in some sugar and drank that watching the weather.

While we are still in the deep freeze now (the high today will only be 17 degrees F.), the good news is it will warm up over the weekend. Now, I know it will be another 6-8 weeks of winter, but I gotta tell you, I am sick of it and can’t wait until spring.

I will finally be able to drive (or drop) my motorcycle!

I just messed around until I got hungry. So, I warmed up the rest of the roast beef hash in the mocrowave, topped it with two over easy eggs (my favorite) and ate brunch. Then I got cleaned up and dressed and got to work.

I went and got a sponge brush from the garage and poured the grout sealer into a bowl. I carefully went down each line of grout on the counter top and half way up the back splash. Now, the grout sealer will not hurt the tile, but I figured there was no sense wasting it.

After about an hour, I wiped off any excess and then let it all dry for three hours. I took a nice nap.

Then I called my friend Leon to wish him a happy birthday, but just got his answering machine.

After the three hours were up, I reapplied the grout sealer, again wiping off the excess after an hour and letting it dry for three more hours. Then I washed everything down with dish detergent and water to get the grout sealer off the tiles (hey, nobody’s perfect!)

When that dried, I tried Leon again and got through. We talked for a while. He’s got a lot more snow there and that’s a big problem for feeding and watering the cattle. After we hung up, I began to put the things back on the counter. Then I folded up the table cloth and put it in the linen closet.

It was WAY past dinner time by then so I gave up on the dinner I was going to make. I just heated up some rice and some of the chicken chop suey and ate that. Then I went to bed.
