April Showers

It rained all day on Wednesday. I drove through it for lunch and then again on the way home.

At home for the night, I started cleaning out the fridge. There’s too many condiments, etc., that have been in there too long. I took a phone call about halfway through, talked for a bit and then decided to give it up for the night.

I grilled hot dogs (Vienna natural casings – I couldn’t find the Dearborn ones at Kroger’s) on my griddle pan from Jake and Carla for dinner. I didn’t have buns, so I ate two of them on sourdough bread with yellow mustard and chopped onions.

I watched a little TV and then went to bed early again.

  1. Had you used that pan before? How'd it work out? Still tempted to buy one. I don't need a two burner one and it seems a little silly to have to fire up the broiler for a few hot dogs (though it tastes a treat.) Also, I'd suggest adding a little hot sauce to your mustard/onion topping.

  2. Yes, I have used it several times. Works great and easy to clean up (unlike my two burner cast iron one)

I'll give that hot sauce tip a try.

  3. Does it cover two burners? Probably need a gas stove, eh?

  4. @ amer: No, the one they gave me is a Calphalon non-stick griddle pan. It's big (maybe 12 inches x 12 inches square) with ridges so you get good grill marks and works great just on the big burner. It was my old cast iron griddle pan that needed two gas burners. Hmmm... You cook on an electric stove?

@ Jake: Tried the hot sauce on the dogs. Brilliant!

  5. Yes, not only electric, but a glass top electric...don't think it would work!
