Tuesday morning, it was cold and raining. I had to go to Building 50 first thing and meet a wiring vendor to get a quote. I sat in the car, watching it rain, waiting for him. I kept telling myself, “Well, at least its not snow.”
When we were done (about 9:00 AM) I headed north to Farmington and Building 73. I went home at lunchtime (in the wind, cold and rain) and thought about what I should make. I’d been suffering with stomach distress all morning (I’m not saying it was the “fish soup,” I’m just saying). So, I ended up making a cucumber sandwich.
I have loved these since I was a wee lad. My mother used to make them. So, simple, really; Just cucumber slices, put on white bread smeared with mayonnaise and salted. Cut off the crusts and cut the sandwiches in quarters and you have English tea sandwiches.
It was excellent, but didn’t taste exactly right, as I was using sourdough bread and an English (seedless) cucumber, unpeeled. My Mom just used plain white bread and peeled cukes from our garden.
From home, I went to Building 3 and spent the afternoon there (I have two one-hour meetings there, so driving back and forth seemed silly).
I drove home at 5:00 PM (through the wind, cold and even more rain). I had some work planned to do tonight, but I was cold, tired and depressed. So, after treating cats and changing clothes, I watched the news until 7:00 PM.
Still not feeling so hot, I just made a big salad for dinner. I ate that watching more TV and continued doing that (watching, not eating) until I fell asleep.
