Is it already Monday again?

I woke up Monday morning after another night of broken sleep. I could not get it in gear (which is why the morning’s Blog post was so late).

I went home at lunch, and stopped at Kroger’s for the last eight items on the list.

Back home after work, I treated the cats and changed shoes. Then I went out front and dug up two dandelions that I discovered blooming in the front yard.

Next I lugged the birdseed out back, refilled the feeder and threw some extra on the ground for the mourning doves. I filled the suet cage hung by the kitchen window, and took down the one closest to the bird feeder. I replaced that one with my old (very old) wind chime.

I lugged out the statue of the young monk and set it in its place by the reflecting pool. By then it was almost 6:30 PM, so I quit to watch the NBC Nightly News.

Unfortunately, it was a one-hour special about Osama Bin Laden. So, I didn’t get dinner started until 7:30 PM.

I made one of my old favorites. I took three good-sized redskin potatoes (I’ve used them all at one time or another and don’t have a favorite variety. I use what I have on hand). I cut them in half, length-wise (for a stable platform) and then sliced them about 1/8-inch thick.

I started frying them in some canola oil and butter. I kept giving them a toss-up and when they started to turn golden brown, I added two sliced medium-sized yellow onions. I kept tossing them occasionally while I sliced a smoked sausage rope on the bias, about 1/4-inch thick.

I added them to the skillet and when they were browned, everything else was ready, too. I plated some up and went in to watch some TV.

The food was hearty and excellent, as always. I turned off the TV around 10:30 PM, put away the now-cooled leftovers and went to bed.

  1. Is it just me or are there way too many hyphens in this post? I guess I woke up over-hyphenated.
