For a change, it wasn’t raining on Tuesday! There were more clouds than sun and a little chillier than I like, but it WASN’T raining!
When I got home at lunchtime, there wasn’t much of a breeze blowing. So, I skipped lunch in favor of applying Ortho Ground Clear to the driveway (I’ve given up on Roundup). I mixed a quart of the Ground Clear with a gallon of water in my pump sprayer, pumped it up and then started to spray it.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but this always kills my back. You don’t want this stuff drifting onto your lawn, but the wand is short (like two feet) so you have to bend over to keep it contained. How many times have I wished for a longer wand?
I had a late afternoon meeting at Cisco in Southfield, which didn’t end until 5:15 PM, which meant I didn’t get home until after 6:00. But the weather was still holding, so I thought I should cut the front lawn. However, I first treated the cats, changed clothes, etc. So it wasn’t until almost 7:00 PM when I went out to fire up the push mower. That’s when I discovered I never refilled the gas can. So, I headed down the street to the nearest gas station and bought two gallons.
Back home, I got the front lawn cut and then took the mower out back. I cut all the wet spots and the places where the lawn tractor just will not go. I got everything put away and the house buttoned up around 8:15 PM.
I warmed up more of the Manwhich and ate that on some sourdough bread. I watched a movie until after 11:00 and then tried to go to sleep. I slept lousy, due to my back pain.
"Ortho Ground Clear to the driveway (I’ve given up on Roundup)" is it really that much better? Can you replant next year?
ReplyDelete(no, not the weeds)
I dunno. I know that Roundup didn't do a damn thing (and neither did the $65.00 application that TruGreen Chemlawn put on last summer). Regarding replanting in a year, you could look it up on the Ortho website.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much....
ReplyDeletep.s. How soon can I get the goats from LU???
ReplyDelete(backyard is under water once more....help)
Take a look at my photos. That raised bed garden normally stands at least a foot off the grass! And, now it's almost underwater.
ReplyDeleteI'm rethinking the goat idea. As it stands now, we'd have to put water wings on each of their legs.
I think we need ducks, geese or swans... any marine bird that eats grass.
