For Melissa

I heard this on the news this morning: Bank of America reverses plan to charge monthly fees for debit card usage.

Melissa and I had discussed this, as they apparently had announced it first in North Carolina and she said it would soon start in Michigan. This annoyed me as I would have changed my checking to the Credit Union.

Changing it would be smarter anyway, except I have all these places that either automatically take payments out of my checking (like my house payment) or I have it set up on their websites to take it out when I pay online (like DTE). It seemed like a lot of work to switch them over to another checking account and I was concerned that some might not get paid on time, etc.

So, the Bank of America will probably come up with another fee (like not maintaining a certain balance, etc.) but for now I’ve dodged the bullet.
