I heard today that Levon Helm, formerly of the Band, died yesterday from cancer. I first became aware of the Band back in the day when they backed up Bob Dylan in his early effort to use electric guitars.
Later on, of course, the Band became famous in its own right with such songs as “The Weight,” “Up on Cripple Creek” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.”
Levon left the Band and continued his own career, both in music and in acting. I will miss his voice.
WHAT IS THIS BOOK, ANYWAY?
ReplyDeleteSue, I'm sorry. I wasn't being cute about the book, just forgot to mention the title. It's "The girl who kicked the hornet's nest," the last of the trilogy by Stieg Larsson. Someone (I believe it was Lu) had brought me his first two books (The girl with the dragon tattoo and The girl who played with fire) to read while I was hospitalized. I just wanted to finish reading the set.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, Larsson died in 2004, shortly after delivering all three manuscripts to his publisher.
