Friday Flowers

I bet you're tired of reading this, but it was even nicer today in Southeast Michigan!

I went to Lowe’s to pick up something I saw yesterday, really liked and wished I’d bought then. It was a pot of yellow Calla Lilies (Calla Serrada) inside a watering can. I thought about it the night before and decided it would go nicely where I used to put the now too heavy cement planter (by the porch).

The sad part is that they are perennials, but not in this climate. They can’t tolerate less than 20 degrees F. But, they’ll look nice out there this summer. I also picked up two hostas (Patriot Plantain) for the new back garden.

As you already know or may have guessed, I have a LOT of varieties of hostas, but I only have two of these kind and neither one grows well. So, I am hoping these do better!

When I got home, I watered the calla lily and then planted the hostas. I had to cut a hole in the landscape fabric after I pushed the mulch aside. I watered the whole garden once again as it’s not supposed to rain until at least Monday. Then I went out front and watered the porch rail planter, the tree hanging basket and the mailbox garden (some of the seeds have sprouted, but it looks like only one kind – maybe other varieties will sprout later).

I took some photos for you and finally went inside to change clothes. That’s when I discovered cat barf on the bedspread! Damn! So, I started the washer and added the lap blanket from the lift chair and the blanket from the office chair to make a full load.

Then I started to clean the house for tomorrow’s visitors. I have the minister’s wife and/or her helpers coming around 10:00 AM to pick up the lift chair and my daughter Melissa coming sometime later.

I was a little tired from the day (I started to doze off in front of my computer screen at work in the afternoon!) so all I did was the necessary vacuuming. I’ll do the finishing touches in the morning.

I warmed up the last two brats and ate them for my supper. The laundry was finally done, so I folded the blankets and put the bedspread back on the bed. Then I got in it and watched some taped TV until 9:30 PM, when I went to sleep.
