Friday

It was cooler and overcast Friday morning. After I got dressed, I walked out and checked the rain gauge, because they had flood warning posted here and there and I was curious just how much rain had fallen. Here at the house, it was only 1/2 inch.

I have been going round and round with my doctor, trying to get another prescription or a refill for pain pills as I am almost out of the ones I got from the hospital. I thought she wanted me to go through her now that I have been discharged (at least that’s what she said). But, her latest voicemail was that I had to talk to the spine doctor.

So, I called his office yesterday and they have a system where you leave your name, birth date, the exact name of the prescription, the name of the doctor who prescribed it and the name and number of where you want the prescription called into on a recording.

Of course, I didn’t have all of that with me (I thought I’d be talking to a human), so last night I wrote it all down and called it in today. They called me back a couple hours later (I forgot to tell you that you have to leave a callback number, too) and said the prescriptions were refilled, but they can’t call them into a pharmacy! I have to pick them up at the office.

I told him I was busy at lunch today and I’d get them Monday. But, it seems silly to me to make that drive there and back when I have a CVS a block from home! How stupid!!

I went back to the mall and it was a very different experience that on Thursday! There were no close parking places (it was sprinkling, BTW) and the place was packed. There were three people in front of me in the store where I wanted to buy something. But, I eventually got out and just grabbed a burger on the way back to work.

Driving into the garage at 5:30 PM, I noticed one of the irises that Sadie and Luanne sent me last year (or did Lu bring them up two years ago?) in bloom. I had mentioned I had a lot of them here, but they were all purple. They said they had other colors back on the farm, so they dug some up and I planted them when I got them.

This one’s yellow and I snapped a picture. But then I realized it would look much more dramatic if I waited a few days for the whole stalk to bloom. I posted the one and will try and catch it later, too. I also noticed one bunch I’d planted were in the wrong place, so I’ll transplant it when I find out what time of the season that should be done.

It was a lot cooler and not raining after work, so I changed clothes and went out back for a bit. I picked up a few lightweight but long branches that had come down in last night’s storm. After that, I dug the four shallow holes I need for the other “gardening without bending” project.

Ah, you thought I forgot, right? Or, maybe you thought the window box was the other project? Well, the window box was an impulse buy (which right now, at least, I regret). And, no, I didn’t forget. It turned out that what I thought was a great idea was what a LOT of other people also thought was a great idea. So, the shop where they make them was and is backed up with orders and I have been waiting (and waiting) patiently. Well, maybe not THAT patiently.

The last I heard was that it “should” ship next week. We’ll see...

But, there’s no sense in waiting until the last minute to dig the holes. So, I did. And, with the rain we’ve had, it was pretty easy.

Back inside, I started dinner. I simply warmed up the leftover redskin potatoes and more of that ham in the microwave. I put butter, salt and pepper on the potatoes and nothing on the ham. It all still tasted pretty good.

I watched TV until 11:00 PM and then went to sleep.
