Thursday

It was a beautiful sunny day here in Redford, although a tad chilly.

I went out at lunchtime to Lowe’s and bought a pot of petunias for the clay pot on the stump at the Wild Garden. The Wild Garden is still filled with the lily-of-the-valley leaves (the lovely little flowers are about all gone) and ferns. I did check (again) and the trillium I transplanted from Mom’s New Baltimore house (with Hannah’s help) did not come up (for yet another year). I’m going to have to face it: They’re not coming up!

After work, I put the petunias in the pot, filled the rest of it with garden soil and watered the hell out of it. Then I put the pot back on the stump and took a picture for you. Since I had the camera anyway, I also took a photo of the porch rail planter. Both will look a lot better when they fill out.

I talked with Jake for a while. He had to give a presentation to some colonels and I was curious how it went. He said he thought it went well, but he still has several tight deadlines to meet. Sucks to be him!

I was going to try and work on that window box again. But, since it’s still chilly and the weekend is supposed to be in the 80’s, I decided to wait for better weather. Instead, I warmed up some ribs and an ear of sweet corn for my dinner.

I watched TV until I fell asleep around 10:30 PM.

  1. Gardens are looking nice! Regarding some of your posts finding different types of beverages - check out tart cherry juice. Supposed to be the new super antioxwhatchamacallit thing. 32oz bottle of concentrate (1oz per 7oz water) was like $17 at Kroger.

  2. Thanks for the tip. I'll tell you what, though. I usually drink a glass or two of buttermilk, apple juice or V8 juice at night when I get home. But, I can;t drink more than a half a glass of that cranberry juice. Whew! Puckers you right up!

  3. Well, they say to mix w/ 7 oz. I take a std 16.9 oz water bottle, mark water level, measure out 2 Tbsp of water and then fill back up to mark w/ juice. Less puckery but still good. Need to find a pie recipe for it.

  5. @ Jake: Cherry Pie sounds fine!

@ Amy Pool Boy Petersen: I don't envy you opening the pool. My neighbors have been working on theirs for a couple of days now and I remember all the time and money Jake and Carla used to spend on theirs.
