It was back to work on Monday morning. It was still nice and cool out with just a slight chance of rain this afternoon (come on, rain!)
Just after I got to work, Michelle from Facilities brought over my rocking chair cushion. The woman who made it did make two covers, but did not have the time to make the pillow. So, she sent back the excess fabric. It looked great and I could see why the seamstress sent it to her sister, who does upholstery. I imagined just folding over the fabric and sewing in the tabs and zipper. This is much more “finished” looking (I’ll try and see if I can show you what I mean in photos).
I may still try and make the remaining fabric into a small pillow (I liked the idea after Michelle told me about it). But, I’ll have to hand stitch it as I don’t have a sewing machine (or access to one).
I stopped at PetSmart on my way home for lunch and bought more kitty litter (tomorrow is trash day). Then I went home. When I pulled in the driveway, I saw the woman across the street using a hose and a spray nozzle to water the new bushes (remember me saying they ripped out all the bushes in front of the townhouses and planted new, smaller ones a while back). I’ve seen her out there before, but this time I walked and wheeled across the road to talk to her.
I told her I had an extra oscillating sprinkler that I don’t use if she wanted it. She jumped at the chance, because she was watering the bushes and trying to watch her two little kids at the same time. So, I went and got it and then took it back to her. I explained if she put it in the right place and set a timer for an hour, she would get between 1/4 and 1/2 inch of water on the lawn and bushes.
Then I went and took the new cushion inside and tried it. I was a little shy on the length of the tabs, but they just fit. In retrospect, I should have used cloth as wide as the tabs I wanted rather than string to determine the length I needed. All in all, though, it looked great to me (see photos) and I was pleased.
I warmed up two brats and ate that for lunch, then headed back to work. When I left, my old sprinkler was on the job across the street and the woman and her kids were back inside. I smiled.
It did look a little cloudy, so I left my sunroof open. I figured it was like washing your car and then it rains (sometimes you have to trick the rain gods). But, it didn’t work. At least, not at work. But, when I got back home after 5:00 PM, I could tell it had sprinkled at the house. Again, sadly, not enough to measure in the rain gauge.
You may have noticed that I never said I washed the bedding over the weekend. That’s because I didn’t. Apparently, though, Scruffy thought I should have and helped me realize that by coughing up a big hair ball on the bedspread sometime between lunch and when I got home after work.
So, I stripped the bedding, treated the stain and started the wash. I took pictures of the chair cushion and was again reminded I wished I’d asked for 8-inch loops instead of 6-inch ones. Because in the photos, I noticed about an inch or two of the back is showing at the bottom I hadn’t planned for. I suppose I sound picky, now. But, don’t get me wrong! I do love it, it’s just that I wanted it “perfect.”
While the clothes were drying, I grabbed a garbage bag and my stick with a nail in it and went outside. I picked up all the trash I could reach in the back and along my fence lines. Back inside, I added the little bit of old kitty litter left that I put in a paper sack to the garbage bag. Then I refilled the cat box with fresh litter. I finally took off my brace and breathed a sigh of relief!
My new favorite show, “Longmire” did not tape Sunday night and I figured out why. Two other shows happened to be on at the same hour (old ones I had set to record as a series) and I can only tape two at a time. I checked and it was not scheduled to be rerun on A&E (at least any time soon). And, A&E is not one of my cable company’s “On Demand” channels.
So, I searched the Web and found it! Unfortunately, it was like watching a YouTube video (same size little screen) but at least I did get to see it.
I remade the bed and ate leftovers for dinner as it was already after 8:30 PM. I watched a little TV on the TV and then went to be at 10:30 again.
