I woke up at 6:30 AM on Sunday morning. The first thing I did was to go out and check the rain gauge. It was damp, but nothing to record! However, it was nice and cool with no humidity. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was just in my bathrobe, I would have sat out there a while.
Instead, I went back in, made a cup of coffee and filled in the Blog entry. Then I wound the clock, refilled my pill box and ate my oatmeal breakfast.
I shaved and took my shower in the main bathroom. Since I put in all new parts, it’s hard as hell to turn the faucets, so I thought I would use them a bit until they are easier to turn again.
I went out into the refreshing air and watered the back gardens, including carrying buckets of water to the back for the peonies, roses and day lily. I never would have thought that a predicted 83 degree day would be one I considered cool and pleasant, but after the brutal heat, it feels like that!
Back inside, I started the last load of laundry. Then the phone rang. I talked with my daughter Melissa for a long while, until I had to hang up my dried shirts and pants. Then I went out to check on the progress of the charging motorcycle battery. It was as I feared, it would not take the charge. So, I too will need a new battery to start it.
Carla called to tell me about the food they had in Charleston, South Carolina. They went there for the weekend to celebrate their anniversary. It sounded excellent (although she claimed they got tired of “low-country” cuisine after a while).
Then I proceeded to do the caulking job I’ve been putting off (I suck at it and, as Dirty Harry once said, “A man’s got to know his limitations!” So, I had a plan. I taped all the tile with that Frog tape (masking tape that supposedly doesn’t bleed) and then caulked it. I smeared in the caulk, trying to be as careful as I could.
I let it set for an hour or so and then pulled off the tape. Bingo! The walls might be a little over-caulked, but the tile has a perfect line on it. I should have thought of that years ago.
While the caulk was setting up, I washed the main shower and then the bathroom floor.
Then, I took off my brace and took a break. Luckily for me, the Turner Classic Movie channel was showing The Thin Man, one of my favorite old movies (William Powell, Myrna Loy – 1934).
I added some more hard-boiled eggs to the potato salad and had some of that, an ear of sweet corn and a brat for my Sunday supper. All leftovers, but all good!
I finished the evening with more TV, but went to sleep at 10:00 PM.
