Friday

It was still raining a little when I drove into work on Friday, but it cleared up around 10:00 AM. They do say there are chances all day of more rain as a low pressure is hanging over up us and the rain is just circling.

I didn’t have any errands at lunch, so I just went to the Newburgh Grill and had a mediocre cup of clam chowder and a patty melt for lunch. Then I drove back to work.

It still hadn’t rained by the time 5:00 PM finally rolled around (although there were very dark clouds way to our north). When I got home I treated the cats and changed my shoes. Then I went out to check the rain gauge. It was reading just over 1 1/2 inches of rain. This time I dumped it to see how much it rains (if it rains) overnight.

I didn’t sleep well the night before, so I took Friday night off. It started raining here again about 7:00 PM, but not hard.

I watched the news and then was going to turn on the Olympics. But, I saw they had a John Wayne movie night on AMC, so I watched the end of Rio Bravo and then Hondo (one of my all-time favorites).

Oddly enough, even though Hondo was a 1953 movie, I actually read the book long before I ever saw the movie. Well, it wasn’t a book, I guess. It was a short story written by Louis L’Amour, a favorite author of both my Mother and myself. The short story was called “The Gift of Chochise” and the movie was based on it.

When I got hungry, I tried a new Marie Callender’s entrĂ©e: Creamy Chicken & Shrimp in a Parmesan Alfredo Sauce.” I know, I know. It sounded a little weird to me, too. But, it wasn’t bad. I had the last two slices of fried eggplant as my side dish.

I started watching El Dorado, but when I got tired, I turned it and the light off and went to sleep.
