Two things I wish we had in Michigan

(or, maybe we do and I am just unaware of them).

You know how many of our expressways have names associated with them? Such as M-10 is referred to as "The Lodge" named after John C. Lodge, who was the mayor of Detroit from 1927 to 1928 (I had to look that up, lol). And, I-94 used to be called the "Edsel Ford Freeway" (at least in Detroit).

Well, on my recent road trip, one of the states we passed through (and I'm not sure which one: Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina or South Carolina) had a stretch of the freeway that was named "Veterans Memorial Highway" and about every mile or so was the name of a veteran (I assume he or she was KIA, but don't know that). I thought that was a very fitting tribute and something we should also have in Michigan.

And, in South Carolina this week, there was something called "No Tax Day" or something. Jake can correct me if I got this wrong, but it was a day where there was NO sales tax charged on purchases. Specifically, it was so people could get "back to school" things for their kids. I don't know if only certain items were not taxed or it was a general tax amnesty for one day, but either way, I thought that was a good idea as well.

I'm just saying...
