It was just at freezing when I woke up on Monday morning. But, my house was nice and cozy and it wasn’t until I left for work that I really noticed it (even though I was wearing a heavy jacket).
I ate the last of the Sunrise Squares for breakfast. They were really good (and would be perfect for a large family or, say, a brunch), but way too much for one person. And, I’m not quite sure how you could cut the recipe in half or how well it would reheat after freezing and thawing.
My friend Michelle from Facilities dropped off some potato soup she made over the weekend. She said it was her mother-in-law’s recipe and had bacon and Andouille sausage (spicy pork sausage typically used in Cajun cuisine) in it, so it had a little more kick than normal potato soup. I told her I had some mushroom and barley soup I will give her when I bring her back her container.
She also brought me my pillow that the seamstress had finished (see Photos). But, the seamstress wouldn’t take any money for her work, as she had originally told Michelle she would do it for free. I had to laugh, as there was still more material left over (this after, not one, but two back cushion covers and a pillow). Apparently I am just not that good at estimating how much fabric a particular project will take...
It was sunny, but I did still have to wear my jacket on my morning walk outside.
At lunchtime, I went to Costco to stock up on paper towels, toilet paper and more coffee. I was surprised to learn that they don’t sell the liquid refills for the Wet-Jet, just the pads. I went home, dropped everything off, ate a quick sandwich, and then headed back to work.
It was still cool, but sunny when I got home from work, so I tackled a project I’ve been wanted to get to: blowing all the leaves off my driveway and the back patio and onto the lawn.. That way, if the lawn service comes to cut my grass tomorrow, they will get ground up and help feed the lawn. But, I took the garbage can out to the road, first.
I got the driveway done and was heading out back, when the phone rang. It was Jake and we talked for a little bit about motorcycles. After we hung up, I went out and blew off the patio. I put everything away and realized it was already after 7:00 PM.
So, I heated up the potato soup in the microwave. Shut my mouth! She wasn’t kidding about it being spicy! But, it was really good and really different and I’m going to try and pry the recipe out of her.
I watched a little TV, but my heart wasn’t into it and I went to bed before 10:00 PM, still burping (Crazy Cajuns!)
