Wednesday

It rained during the night and still was raining when the alarm clock went off on Wednesday. Fortunately, it had stopped by the time I went to work.

My morning walk was a challenge, though, as the wind had picked up and, while I had put my jacket one, I didn’t zip it up.

I went to the Newburgh Grill, planning on buying a patty melt for my lunch and then going to Lowe’s. But, it was so cold and gloomy (the sun had been playing peek-a-boo all day) that, when I saw one of the specials was meatloaf, I ordered that instead. It came with mashed potatoes, gravy and peas. It was certainly wasn’t “great” but it was good.

Full of comfort food, I headed to Lowe’s (it was raining again, BTW) and picked up two more rolls of shelf liner. Then I went back to work.

I took my afternoon walk at 3:00 PM. Jeff, a co-worker happened to be outside at the time and said, “With this wind and those clouds, it feels like snow!” I agreed.

No sooner had I got inside when it sounded like it was raining hard. We looked out the window and it was hailing. It was small (thankfully) but was bouncing off both the cars and the pavement! Fortunately, it didn’t last long.

I zipped up my coat before I went outside and drove home at 5:00 PM. I checked the rain gauge before I changed clothes and I picked up almost a half inch of rain here.

I changed clothes and started the Wednesday night wash. While it was washing, I applied the expanding foam to the openings in the cement block in the furnace room I felt the draft the other day (they are the two holes that lead out to the air conditioner. I filled them with foam, and then threw the rest of the can away (I’ve never been able to reuse a can of foam after the initial use and have no other places I know to use it now).

The clothes went into the dryer and I watched the tail end of the nightly news. Since I had such a large lunch, I just made a light supper of a fried egg sandwich.

I hung up the shirts and pants and went back to TV watching. I went to bed around 10:30 PM.
