I woke up Monday five minutes before the alarm was set to go off. But, I’m not stupid! I know how twice a year this time change screws up my system. It takes about a week for me to get back to “normal” (whatever that means).
I got to work early, but when I was pulling in, I remembered that I had forgotten to take the fake tree. I had overheard a discussion from one of our techs who had moved to bigger digs and was bemoaning the fact that he had too much space and not enough furniture, so I mentioned I had that fake tree from St. Clair that was now sitting in my downstairs (to make room for the bay leaf). I was going to take it to Goodwill, but told him he could have it if he wanted it. He enthusiastically answered, “Yes!” and I said I would bring it in Monday morning.
Damn!
He said tomorrow would be fine, though.
I was working away when my friend, Michelle, from Facilities came in with a neat bag (see Photos). In it was a huge half a head of cabbage (that’s all I need is more cabbage, but I didn’t tell her that) and a printed recipe (with her handwritten changes) and a little container of her “Cabbage Casserole” for me to try.
At noon, I went to PetSmart and got some new kitty litter and some more cat treats. I took that home and had a big bowl of my soup for lunch.
I was totally sleepy all afternoon (time change again) but I did manage to download the ballot I have to cast tomorrow. I already know most of how I want to vote, but on the news this morning, they said if you know what you want, it will take about 10 minutes to fill out the ballot (its two pages long this time around!), but if you have to read it and decide, it might take as long as 1/2 an hour!!!
I managed to stay awake long enough to drive home. It was a little weird as I saw a beautiful sunset when I got onto Inkster Road.
It was even weirder when I got all the trash together (including the old kitty litter) and rolled it out to the road in darkness!
I put down my rear seats and stuck the fake tree inside the car.
I did heat up and eat the cabbage casserole for my dinner. It was pretty good, but her handwritten suggestions were correct. It needed more ground round. I also added more salt, but she (like most folks) always under-seasons her food.
I carefully washed out her container and left it to air dry as we have an agreement that, if possible, we never return each others food containers empty. As luck would have it, I made that soup on Sunday, so I can give her the container back filled with soup!
I started to watch some of my taped shows, (they are beginning to pile up again) but fell asleep about 9:00 PM (stupid time change).
