Can I say "Finally Friday" again?

Friday, it was supposed to be getting warmer, but it sure didn’t feel like it.

I went home at lunch instead of going to a farewell party for a co-worker, Evan. Years ago (years ago!) when I was the vice president of the company my current company bought, our owner had a policy: “We do NOT celebrate people leaving us!” So, management wasn’t supposed to go to them. Even though I am no longer management (and, at this company, managers attend as well, go figure) and do wish him well, I still feel uncomfortable.

I stopped and got chicken fried rice instead. While they were making it, I went into CVS to buy some batteries I need. After eating, I put some of the vegetable soup in a container for Michelle, my cube mate. I had mentioned making it and she said she “loves” soup and why didn’t I bring her some. So, I did.

It was funny as I left too late (I thought) to stop at Office Depot. I just need to pick up some of those laminating sheets for my new registration and insurance cards. Five minutes tops, in and out! But, I didn’t want to be late, so I drove on.

I got there just in time. But, nobody showed up until after 15 minutes!!!

My friend Michelle, from Facilities, dropped by and asked me for a recipe. She told me my chili was “a bit” too spicy. I told her that when I hadn’t heard back, I assumed I’d killed her. She mentioned she had mistakenly ate like three or four bowls of her cabbage soup (which was a variation of Melissa’s cabbage soup, BTW) and the subsequent cleansing of her intestinal tract (to put it politely).

It was a typical Friday afternoon, long and occasionally annoying. But, it finally ended and I headed home, banging that drum!

When I got home, I looked around. I knew all the stuff I want to get done this weekend. But, I was tired and sore, so I gave myself the night off.

I watched the news, messed around on the computer and then watched some more TV. For dinner, I heated up some lasagna leftovers I had frozen, but not labeled (so I’m not quite sure how long they were there). But there were no ice crystals, so I went for it. It was quite good!

I went to sleep about 10:00 PM.

  1. The sausage and bean soup. She's redeeming last years Honey Baked ham cert and wanted to make the leftovers and bone into soup. She said she really liked the texture of my soup as opposed to the normal "navy bean" kinda bean soup.
