Monday

Obviously, I am back online, but it wasn’t easy!

I got up and at ‘em with the alarm clock. I checked out the computer and, nothing. So, I went to work and posted the Blog entry there.

At lunch, I went to Home Depot and bought a new fire extinguisher and an outdoor box for the other porch light.

After work, I came home and reset the cable modem. I disconnected it all, took out the battery and let it set for a few minutes. Then I hooked it all up. Nothing. So, I gave up and called the cable company’s technical support line. She was very helpful and had me disconnect the wireless router (for the Roku) and hook directly into the computer. Nothing. We went back and forth after that and she finally said she would remotely reset the modem from her end, but it would disconnect my phone. So, I gave her my cell phone number. She said to wait for five minutes and then try it. If it didn’t work, I was supposed to call her back.

But, it worked!!! I posted the pictures from Sunday.

I can’t believe how helpless I felt when it was down. I think technology has me in its grip!!! Am, I’m not sure how I feel about that.

I warmed up the last of the fajitas for dinner after the news was finished.

I watched the second half of “Alone in Alaska” and it was excellent. I was trying to figure out how he filmed some of the shots of himself with just an old movie camera and a tripod. At one point, he was getting his mail ready for the float plane and he had a box with dozens of film canisters he was preparing to send to his brother in California. As I said, he hand-built his cabin with no power tools and built hinges for the doors from wood and even carved wooden spoons out. All in all he live there fore 30 years! [Note to self: without technology.]

I watched a couple more taped DIY shows and then went to bed about 11:00 PM. But, I didn’t fall asleep until after midnight. I couldn’t seem to get comfortable.
