Even though Monday was supposed to be the start of our
January Thaw (an annual event in Michigan),
it was cold in morning with the wind.
I did get my outdoor morning walk in (first time in a week),
although I had to be careful about the icy patches in the parking lot.
I’m not sure why, but everything seemed to be a hassle today
for everybody at work.
At lunchtime, I went to Home Depot and got a bag of rock
salt. January thaw or not, I was getting low and so I picked more up. I went
home and made a can of Campbell’s
Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch.
The afternoon was no less frustrating (again, for everyone,
not just me) Everything was a problem. I did manage to get another walk
outside, though.
After work, I emptied the kitty litter tray and refilled it,
Then I took the garbage out to the road in the dark, again trying not to fall while
walking where the car tires had packed down the snow.
Back inside, I warmed up some of that mushroom barley soup I
had thawed out over the weekend. I washed the Dutch oven while I waited for it
to come up to the right temperature.
I ate that with some saltine crackers watching the last of
the news. Unlike some soups, it held up quite well after being frozen, thawed
and then reheated. Nice supper!
Then I pulled down the attic steps and took up the Christmas
decorations.
Finally, I watched three episodes of Agatha Christie's
“Poirot” before going to bed.
