Rainy Days and Mondays

It was warm on Monday. It was occasionally sunny  first thing, but the clouds started rolling in by the time of my morning walk. By noon, it had already rained once and was sprinkling on my way home for lunch.

I ate the last two brats, started the dishwasher and then headed back to work. It rained harder, but backed off enough for me to take my afternoon walk outside amid the damp and drips.

When I got home, I treated the cats and then took the garbage can out to the road. I also took that pull-behind spreader, although I knew it would never last the night.

I went in to find a hairball on the bed spread! Damn! So, I stripped the bed and started the was, rationalizing not killing the cats by reminding myself that I never got to washing the bedding over the weekend.

I looked out the living room window around 6:30 PM and the spreader was gone.

I put Visqueen on top my sawhorse workspace and took the clock out. I put it face down on a raised block of wood (also covered with plastic). I took a can of polyurethane from the back room closet, shook it for two minutes and went out and gave the clock back its first light coat.

Now, you have to either re-coat it within two hours, or let it sit for 72 hours before the second coat. That would REALLY blow my time line. So, I set the stove timer for 1 1/2 hours and made dinner.

Well, I didn’t really “make” anything. I reheated a big bowl of the Cheesy Potato Chowder and ate that watching the end of the news. It tasted even better without the smell of drying stain permeating the house.

When the timer went off, I repeated the shaking and spraying and then went in for the night.

I watched the latest taped episode of the Vikings waiting for the basketball game. Once the game began, Michigan was really kicking butt at the start and I thought I would just watch it to halftime and then go to bed, confident of a win.

But, the score got a lot closer as time passed and I ended up watching it until the end (12:30 AM). Michigan lost, but they had nothing to be ashamed of. It was an exciting game and I’m not that big of a basketball fan.
