It was noticeably cooler on Wednesday, even though the
sun was out.
I went to Gordon Foods at lunchtime to get some more
lump charcoal. I took it home and ate the last of the beef vegetable soup.
At 5:00 PM, I drove home in a thunderstorm that started about five
minutes before I left work. It wasn’t that fun to drive in, but it was neat to
watch inside at home through the kitchen window. There was a lot of lightning!
I did the Wednesday night wash.
I did the Wednesday night wash.
I chopped up celery, onions and my last two carrots
and softened them in the Dutch oven. The I added the beef cubes back in (I had
set them aside to sweat the veggies). I added in some beef broth and a bit of
water. Then I threw in chopped parsley, rosemary and thyme (don’t worry,
they’re all gone now, so you won’t have to read about them for a while, lol). I
added salt and pepper and turned it to boil.
Then I threw it the bag of Kluski noodles. Yes, the
whole bag and, yes, that was a minor mistake. But, in my defense, there were
about 8-10 cups of soup broth and I thought half a bag of noodles would just
get lost.
I taste-tested it for the final time and just added
more ground black pepper. I dished up a bowl and ate dinner.
It was damn good! But, as I said, I think my beef
noodle soup turned into beef and noodles with a little broth, lol. What ever
you call it, I liked it enough to have seconds. When it cooled, I put it away.
I got 3 1/2 four-cup containers of leftovers.
I started watching the hockey game which started here
about 9:30
PM (the Wings are in Alberta,
Canada,
playing the Flames). The trouble is that, even if we do win, I can’t rag on
Canada Cathy, because they’ve already kicked our butts two other times in this
short season.
I gave up and went to bed at the end of the second
period. It was almost midnight
and the score was tied.
