I stopped on the way into work on Wednesday and put $30.00 worth
of gas in my tank. It didn’t fill it up, but it definitely moved the needle off
the “E” mark.
I went to Home Depot at lunch. Instead of going home, I went
over to Leo’s Coney Island and got a gyro and some lemon-rice soup. Then I
drove back to work.
It was getting warmer and muggier outside. They had warned
of scattered pop-up thunderstorms, but we never had any around here.
So many people had the week or the day off that IT work was
very light, so we all were told to go home at 4:00 PM. I didn’t argue!
I got home, treated the cats and then noticed the damn
hairball on the bedspread! Grrr… I sprayed the area with Zout and washed the
bedspread and all the towels.
I changed clothes and went out back. One of the things I
bought at Home Depot today was two extra gutter guards. Now, when I first
discovered them, you could only buy them by the box and only from Rainfilter. I
had three 4-foot ones left from the house gutter project, but didn’t want to
buy a whole box just for the shed (even though it sits under my largest maple
tree). However, I saw that Home Depot had an off-brand that was basically the
same thing and they sold them singly. So I bought two.
I got the stepladder and installed them on both sides. This
was not hard, but it was tedious. I eventually got it done, though and ended up
with less than a two-foot section left over.
I put everything away, put the bedspread and towels in the
dryer and started the Wednesday night wash. Then I began hand-watering plants.
I got the two new hanging plants, the porch rail planter, the watering can and
the old chipped porcelain bowl out in front. Then I did the window box, the
strawberry planter and the clay pot with dill on the back patio. Everything
else still felt damp, so I quit at that point.
It was 6:30 PM and I decided I would take the rest of the
night off. So, I did. For dinner, I had some Puerto Rican spaghetti and rice
Vicky had brought me (I had brought in my chicken and rice for her to take home
and get her Mother’s critique). I also made a small salad to go with it.
When they were dry, I hung up my shirts and pants an folded the rest of the clothes. I had remade the bed a while back, BTW.
At 8:00 PM, I watched “Master and Commander” for the
millionth time. The fireworks that have been going on all week now were much,
much worst tonight. This time it wasn’t just the noise, but they were actually
illuminating my bedroom through the blinds! Somebody obviously has way too much
time and money on their hands!
I fell asleep before the movie ended at 11:00 PM. When I
woke up for a bathroom break, I turned off the TV and went to bed for real.
Those rain guards do work great. I did the whole house, and other than the one corner where the house meats the garage, I have no problems.
ReplyDeleteI only have one spot as well (next to the chimney) that still gets a build up, so I am pleased with them, too.
