It was overcast when I woke up Tuesday morning and had
started raining before I left for work. Not a hard rain, just sprinkles at the
time, but there were flashes of lightning on the horizon.
It eventually did come down harder, but had stopped by the
time I took my walk at 10:00 a.m. There were supposed to be three waves of
showers today, by the way.
It still wasn’t raining when I drove home for lunch.
Back at work, I occasionally checked the weather and it
looked like the second wave of storms in the afternoon broke up or went east
before it ever got to Redford. Damn!
After work, I retrieved the trashcan and went in to treat
the cats. I checked the gauge and found that the morning storm only dropped
about 1/4-inch of rain. My grass and gardens need more!!!
I changed clothes and went out to set up a sanding
station. I put the sawhorses on the sidewalk just south of the garage, so the
strong breeze would blow the sawdust away, and screwed a piece of plywood on to
act as a work table.
I used 60 grit sandpaper on the first pass, gouging the wood here and
there (I’m trying to make it look old, remember?) I took a break at 6:30 p.m.to
watch the Nightly News and then went back out at 7:00.
It started to rain about 7:30, so I put away the tools, set
the sawhorses in the garage and quit for the night. I had all the wood sanded for
the first time except the side boards.
I warmed up a burger and ate that and the last of the potato
salad for dinner. I watched some taped TV but went to bed at 10:00 p.m.
are you going to use the torch on your wood as well?
ReplyDelete(see, I watch too many DYI shows)
LOL! Yes, tonight!! I am also gonna try my own idea: a wire brush wheel in a drill.
ReplyDeleteQuick Question...what brand of grass seed (with blue shit) did you use and which spouted faster?
ReplyDeleteThe clear winner was the Pennington, with green shit. The Scott's had gray shit and it still sprouting while the Pennington is four inches high.
