Monday was overcast and cold with strong winds. I walked
outside in the morning, but I didn’t like it.
I stopped at Westborn to get a cucumber at lunch.
I thought it was my imagination, but I could have sworn it
was snowing or something during my afternoon walk. The wind was blowing hard,
but it felt like “something” was hitting me in the face, every now and then. But,
the weatherman said it would be dry….
Sure enough, it was sleeting here at 5:00 p.m. when I went
home. It didn’t last long, though.
I rolled the trash can out to the road and then went inside.
I watched the news while I changed clothes and then went out into the garage. I
sorted through “stuff” and managed to fill two paper grocery bags with junk. I
think I’ll wait until morning to put them out, though. This wind would probably
blow them across the street overnight.
I called B___ to see what he has been up to. Mostly Fall cleanup,
same as me…
I took my cucumber, peeled it, de-seeded it and cut it into
1/4-inch slices. Then I took my bunch of radishes, cut off both ends of each
and then cut it into eight wedges. A peeled, thin-sliced half of a red onion
completed the bowl.
Then I put 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 1/2 tablespoons
of sugar, a pinch of salt and some black pepper in my small saucepan. I heated
that while stirring until the sugar dissolved. Then I stirred in a tablespoon
of canola oil. I poured that over the radish salad and let it cool off.
While it was cooling, I warmed up two pieces of the smoked
sausage. I ate that and the radish salad for dinner.
I set a couple of movies to tape, but spent the rest of the
evening in the living room, reading a magazine that had come in the mail today.
I went to bed around 10:00 p.m.
