It was 5 degrees F. when I woke up Wednesday morning.
Since I wanted to go to Lowe’s, I went to Time Out for lunch
and had a fantastic mushroom and Swiss burger with fries.
I went to Lowe’s for the flame protector (a 9” x 12”
fireproof towel for soldering) that Home Depot didn’t have in stock anymore. I
bought the last one there when I got all the parts of the dishwasher line, so I
had one. But, I felt I needed two.
Unfortunately, Lowe’s didn’t even carry them. Since I was so close to
Ford Road anyway, I went on to Nankin Hardware. They don’t carry them either
(they suggested a wet rag). Time running out, I went back to work.
It started to snow at 2:00 p.m. They said it might be
another inch of snow by tomorrow morning.
But the time I left for home, it was a thin covering that
already had made the roads slick. I took the expressway home, hoping the tires
kept the glaze off of it. That worked, but nobody was speeding.
Then I was back on the treacherous surface roads and
slip/slided home. The wind was whipping around and the snow was already
drifting onto my driveway. I treated the cats, changed clothes and then started
the Wednesday night wash.
I needed some groceries for the weekend, so I put together a
list, using my kitchen list, some recipes I want to make and the Kroger sales
flyer. If the roads are better, I plan on going there tomorrow at lunchtime (supposed to have 2-3 inches of snow on Saturday morning).
I put the clothes in the dryer and went back upstairs. The
security light out back went on, so I watched for a while at the kitchen
window. Nothing… Then I realized the wind was blowing the dryer steam up and
into the path of the motion sensor! First time that ever happened.
I watched the Nightly News and then made dinner. I turned
the last of the corned beef into a great sandwich. I ate that with some chips, a
pickle and the last little bit of the coleslaw.
Then I used stainable wood putty to fill in the end cracks
on Brother Carl’s bar seat. I set it aside to dry.
When the dryer stopped, I hung up my pants and shirts and
folded the rest. Then I went in to watch the Red Wings game (already in
progress).
It was an excellent game. The Red Rings played like a
different team, somehow. It was a high scoring game with lots of action and, WE
WON! I went to bed just after 11:00 p.m., smiling…
