Hump Day

It was colder and much windier on Wednesday morning. I drove to work through snow flurries. On the way into work, I totally missed a HUGE fire on Industrial Drive and Merriman. It was some sort of paint warehouse or something and there was a hazmat situation. I heard about it when I got in and couldn’t believe I was less than a mile away when I drove by and completely missed it!

Now, one of the things I didn’t know about buying a dishwasher is that it doesn’t come with a power cord (or I would have taken the old one off). I spent some time last night reviewing the installation instructions, BTW. So, you can either hardwire it in or put in a power cord. Since the old one had a plug, hard wiring seemed a bit too much.

So, at lunch, I first hit the Newburgh Grill for a cup of soup and a mini Greek salad. Then I went to Lowe’s. I went to the appliance center, but the guy there was either new or just uninformed. He had no idea what I was talking about. So, I cruised the electrical aisle and ended up buying a 10-foot 14-gauge replacement cord. 10 feet is a bit longer than I need, so I will have to cut it down. And, nowhere on it does it mention “recommended for dishwashers” so I think I will double check at Home Depot before installing this.

The afternoon was long (as they always are) but it was finally 5:00 p.m. I headed home in light snow. I got the mail and then got inside. I treated the cats, changed clothes and then started the Wednesday wash.

I decided to spend the early evening sweeping and vacuuming the house.  Both cats are shedding like you wouldn’t believe and contractors and my own muddy shoes have trashed the place.

So. I started by bending over and picking up by hand all the cat hair I could see. Then I used the sweeper on every inch of floor space in the house. I had to stop and empty the receptacle three times!

I wanted a change from meatloaf, so I made a beautiful grilled cheese sandwich. I ate that with a spicy McClure’s pickle for dinner. Simple, but excellent!

There didn’t seem to be anything interesting on cable, so I watched two shows on Neflix and then went to bed just after 11:00 p.m.
