Back in the Snow

It was 18 degrees on Tuesday when I woke up and the forecast was for occasional snow showers. This sort of worked in my favor, as I discovered I was out of frozen peas and low on butter.

So, I got the little cooler and an ice packet and left early. I stopped at Meijer’s and got what I needed. I put my purchases into the cooler and went to work.

It started snowing around 8:00 a.m. and continued off and on all day. There would be a burst of heavy snow that just started to cover the ground and then the sun would come out. Strange day!

I went home at lunch. I had to stop at CVS, so I got some chicken fried rice from the takeout next door.

The wind picked up and, with the low temps, it made going outside during the afternoon brutal. I know, because I had to go outside a couple of times.

I had to call my car insurance agent. I found out (just by happenstance) that the Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance I get at work does NOT cover any medical bills if I was injured in a car accident! So, I had to add medical insurance to my car policy. It will add almost $300.00 a year to my policy! I am glad I found out before I was in an accident, though.

When I got home, I dragged the trashcan in and then treated the cat. I checked the mail and realized I got a letter from the “National Cremation Society” asking me to sign up (and I could win a free cremation!) Sigh… that’s how you know you’re old…

I reassembled the altered shower rod. Then I got the one screw in each end in and tight. I got the other two at each end in place (but not tightened), so it’s up and secure. As I said, this one is really a two-person project! But it was almost 7:00 p.m. by then and I was hungry. So, I stopped for the night. It was snowing again.

I made a simple side salad with iceberg lettuce, red onion and my homemade croutons. I topped it with bottled bleu cheese dressing. It was excellent.

Sidebar: I think iceberg lettuce has been maligned these days. Sure spring greens, spinach, and other lettuce are interesting (maybe more interesting), but iceberg lettuce is still delicious!

I ate the rest of the chicken fried rice for my main entrée.

I watched NCIS, NCIS L.A. and the last three minutes of a disappointing Red Wings game. Then I went to bed.
