Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

It was 10 degrees when I woke up Monday morning. So, I donned my down-filled jacket and my gloves. Since there was no real wind yet, I skipped my hat.

I was entranced by the full moon. I tried to take a couple of shots out the bathroom window, but they were distorted (probably the thermo-pane glass).  So, I watched it all the way into work and vowed I’d take a picture of it from the parking lot with my phone.

About a mile away from work, it slipped behind a cloud. And, by the time I got here, it was completely covered. I was bummed, but it merely reinforced my belief you have to seize life as it happens!

I went to Westborn at lunch to buy two specific things: Yukon Gold potatoes and some leeks (I have a soup in mind). I ended up buying 10 other things. I couldn’t help myself!

I filled a container with chicken noodle soup for my lunch. When I got to the checkouts, there were only two open. So, I went with the smaller line. I unloaded the groceries in my cart and waited patiently.

Something triggered a response from the management and another checkout line opened up. But, I already had my stuff on the conveyor. So, I waited… and waited… and waited…

The lady checking out and the older checkout lady chatted about everything she bought. Finally everything was through the scanner and then the lady wrote a check! That meant the manager had to be called to approve it (that’s how they do it at Westborn) and, after another wait, he showed up.

All in all, it took me about five minutes to get everything in my cart and about 15 minutes to check out!

I took everything home, ate my soup and then immediately headed back to work.

After work, I took the trashcan out to the road, went inside and treated the cat. Then I changed clothes while watching the news.

I had bought an eight-ounce box of sliced crimini mushrooms, so when I was hungry, I sautéed them in butter. When they were done, I took half of them and put them in a container for another day.

I added about half a cup of heavy cream to the skillet and then put in the leftover fettuccini alfredo with bacon.  I stirred it to mix in the mushrooms, covered the skillet and turned it on low. I stirred it occasionally until it was thoroughly heated and then put some in a bowl. I topped it with Parmigiano-Reggiano and ate my dinner.

Perfect!

I watched some taped TV (I am now up to date with Cosmos) and went to bed around 10:00 p.m.
