I was awakened at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday by a loud
crash! It scared the crap out of me. Upon investigation, I found the shower
curtain rod had fallen. I immediately suspected poor Caley, until I realized
she was still sleeping on the bed.
I tried to put it back up, but couldn’t get it to tighten.
So, I gave up and set it in the office. Before I went to bed, I checked outside
and it wasn’t raining or snowing. Maybe the stupid storm went north or south of
me?
But, when I woke up for good a little after 5:00 a.m., I
found I wasn’t that lucky as the snow was flying.
I left early for work. There was no sign of plowing on
Plymouth Road. There was only about an inch or two of snow then, but driving
was dicey.
At noon, I scraped the truck windows while being pelted by
wind-driven snow and then drove to Time Out for lunch. The snow was bad enough,
but the wind was a steady 25 mph from the north with occasional gusts. The
temperature had been falling since midnight and was down to 21 degrees F. at
2:00 p.m.
The snow stopped (around here, anyway) before 3:00 p.m. but the drifting continued. I learned later that we got an official five inches of snow at Metro airport.
When I got home after work, I started the Wednesday night
wash. I watched the news for a while and then called my brother Carl. We
chatted for a bit (we both lead such exciting lives it takes a while to catch
up). He said his snow total in Mt. Clemens was closer to eight inches.
I warmed up the last of the shrimp gumbo. I thinned it again
with more chicken stock. I decided I really don’t like it all that much.
I watched TV for a while and went to bed around 9:30 p.m. As
I was falling asleep, I remembered that I forgot to take a picture of the snow
in the state park grill! Dammit!
