It was five degrees F. when I woke up Thursday morning. It
later dropped to four degrees, which broke a record set in the 1800’s for the coldest
March 13th. Speaking of records, we will break the one set in 1978
for the most consecutive days with snow on the ground this Friday. And we are
only three inches away from the snowiest winter season ever!
Not that these records are something I am grateful for. But,
after what we went through this year, we should all get some sort of award!
The roads were crappy on the drive into work. I think they
had been plowed, then drifted back over. So, I went slow and kept it in
four-wheel drive all the way.
I went out at lunchtime, though. First I went to the
Newburgh Grill and got a cup of beef vegetable soup and a patty melt. Then I went
to Bed, Bath and Beyond.
I forgot to mention this, but I spent some very annoying
time Wednesday night trying to put the shower curtain rod back up. It would not
stay tight, though. I don’t know if the locking mechanism was damaged when it
fell, or if it fell because the locking mechanism wore out.
So, I checked around and found Moen makes a double curved
rod that bolts to the wall. They sell them in lots of places, but I have a
20%-off coupon for BB&B.
I picked it up and went back to work. It was very sunny, but
the temps only got to 21 degrees, so nothing much melted.
I left the truck outside for a bit when I got home so I
could sweep the water out of the garage. Then I pulled in and buttoned up to
the night.
After I checked the weather, I went to work. I got as far as
taking the shower rod out of the box and reading the instructions. They only
give you screws and anchors for drywall! It tells you what you need to buy if
you have tile. Damn!
Sidebar: I’m sure there are more people these days with
fiberglass tub inserts and drywall, so I suppose this makes sense. But it still
sucks!
I made a ham and cheese sandwich and ate that with more
cottage cheese as the side. I watched taped TV until 10:00 p.m. and then went
to bed.
Damn, your going to use up your 20% savings on anchors...
ReplyDeleteI picked them up on Friday at lunchtime. The anchors and screws weren't bad, but the carbide-tipped drill was pricey!
