Friday was another beautiful spring day in Michigan! I ate chicken
salad in a pita at Time Out and then took a long drive through Hines Park at
lunch. Nice to see all the folks out jogging, bike-riding or just eating their
lunches outside.
Needless to say, both walks were also done outside.
When I got home, I changed clothes and went out back. I
refilled the squirrel and bird feeders (the birds have finally figured it out).
Then I checked on the traps. Both were sprung, no bodies, no cheese.
So, I switched to plan B. I got some short deck screws and
screwed the two traps to the bed of the trailer. Let them jostle that! I
replenished the Cheez-Whiz and reset them. Of course, the rats will have to
figure out a way to climb up into it, but they seem clever enough.
Sidebar: If nothing’s been disturbed in a day or two, I’ll
lean a board on it so they can walk up… AND DIE!!!
I noticed the chives are up about three inches. Those chives
have come a long way! Literally! They came from the farm on 24 Mile Road, to
Columbus, then to St. Clair and now here. Hearty stock!
Back inside the garage, I pulled the truck out, donned my
mask and did the final finish sanding on the sofa table. I hope to deliver it
tomorrow, so I took my time. When I was done, I turned on the air compressor
and blew it all off. Then I went over it with a Swiffer dusting cloth.
I pulled the truck back in and locked everything down for
the night. When I went inside, it was 8:15 p.m.
I was hungry, but was out of leftovers. It was too late to
cook anything, so I just opened a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew and heated it in
a small saucepan on the stove. I ate that with two of the left-over buns from
the brats. Since they were from the Kroger deli, they were getting a bit hard.
So, I warmed them up in the microwave and they were fine. I’ll put the rest out
for the birds on Saturday.
I know the Red Wings were supposed to play tonight, but I couldn’t
find it on my cable. Damn! So, I watched a couple of DIY shows and then went to
bed.
