(Hey, it’s a cousin of the heffalump from Winnie the Pooh,
okay?)
It was a little chilly Wednesday morning, but I eschewed a
coat. When I opened the garage door, I got a shock! The dirt that was there
last night when I closed the garage door at 7:00 p.m. was gone! WTF?

Did they come in the night? I know they start early over
there (I often get behind their trucks while leaving for work). The only thing
I can think of is that they scraped it off while I was in the shower this
morning. I am pretty sure I would have heard a backhoe (the smallest thing they
have) in the driveway, otherwise. Whatever. Thank you, Redford Cement Company!
I sent an email to my friend, Michelle, asking for the
recipe of that shrimp jambalaya. Yeah, it was that good.
I walked outside at 10:00 a.m. It wasn’t as warm as
yesterday, but the winds had died down.
I went to Time Out for lunch (didn’t feel like driving home)
and checked with the barmaid, Christy, on what to order off the “specials” menu.
She’s a Foodie, too, and has never steered me wrong. She suggested the chicken
club sandwich. I asked about today’s soup “Potato with beef and mushrooms” (it
sounded interesting). She made a face, so I demurred.
The sandwich was excellent. But, after I ordered it, she
confided in me that she had added cheese and switched out the ranch dressing for
Thousand Island.
Next time…
After that, I took a long ride down Hine’s Park Drive, just
to chill. Then I went back to work.
I walked outside (again) in the afternoon.
At 5:00 p.m., I headed home. I got stuck in a long line,
trying to exit I-96 onto Inkster. They have closed the surface lanes
(Schoolcraft) down to one lane in anticipation of shutting down I-96. I give
up! I will just use Plymouth Road for the next year…
Back home, I treated Caley, watched the news for the weather
(it’s supposed to rain the next couple of days) and then started the Wednesday
night wash.
I walked out back to check the rat traps and found nothing
had been tripped. I walked around the yard for a while and then reluctantly went
back inside.
I ate the rest of the creamy spring pasta for my dinner and
then watched TV until bedtime.

What are they closing? Why so long?
ReplyDeleteThey are shutting down I-96 from Newburgh Road (just east of I-275) to Telegraph Road for a year to replace the entire surface and all the bridges over it. Now since some 200,00 vehicles travel that stretch per day, it's a problem. They have reduced the service drive (Schoolcraft) to one lane and reset the traffic lights (at least on Plymouth Road) to accommodate the traffic, But the word on the street is that all east-west bound roads (Plymouth Road, 5-mile, 6-mile and even 7-mile) will be clogged...
ReplyDeleteIt just sucks...
Take the train tracks! Boxcar John rides again!
ReplyDeleteI like it! I'm not that worried about extending the drivetime as much as I am getting out and into San Jose.
