There was fog when I left for work on Friday morning. It
wasn’t bad enough to interfere with driving (it rarely is around here) but it
was heavy enough I had to use the wipers to clear the mist off the windshield.
It did give me the opportunity to use my fog light, though. I didn’t need them,
I just wanted an excuse to turn them on, LOL!
By 10:00 a.m., it had switched to rain, so I walked inside.
I went to Time out and got a cup of chicken noodle soup and
a chicken salad pita. Both were good. From there I went to Foodland and got
some sliced crimini mushrooms. Then I stopped at one of the local antique shops
and browsed for a while. It was still raining and the winds were picking up (we
had a high wind advisory until midnight)
It was only a light rain on the way home (intermittent
wipers this time), but the wind was much worse. I treated the cat and changed
clothes. It felt too raw out to work in the garage, so I drank a cup of coffee
and watched the news.
I decided to make the beef tips with mushroom gravy again. I used the
same recipe I did a few weeks ago, but with one substitution. I was out of
shallots, so I used a yellow onion, minced fine. I served them over wide egg
noodles and they were excellent, again.
Sidebar: This is a recipe (well one of many) were your mise
en place is IMPORTANT! At one point, you have to keep stirring constantly and
don’t have time to measure out a tablespoon of soy sauce or 1 1/2 cups of beef
broth. You have to have it measured and ready to go!
I caught up to the Red Wings game (already in progress) and
watched it until the end (we won). Next I watched the latest Viking episode (taped)
and then went to bed.
