It was cold when I left on Thursday, but it hadn’t started
raining yet. Still, I wore my light raincoat
It still wasn’t raining when I walked outside at 10:00 a.m.,
but the wind had picked up, and I regretted my chose of coats.
I went home at lunch, down Plymouth Road. But there was a
horrific accident near Farmington Road. We all had to merge into the turn lane.
I only saw the first car, but if somebody didn’t die in that collision, I would
be amazed.
So, I turned into the CVS parking lot to pick up a prescription.
Naturally, I stopped in next door and ordered some chicken fried rice. Actually,
I never went inside. I just stood outside and waved and the lady nodded.
Sidebar: This is why I like to go to the same places all the
time. Because they know me. The Chinese takeout place know what I want and not
to put the stupid soy sauce packets in the bag (I don’t use them) and don’t ask
me to pay up front. The Newburgh Grill ladies have been serving me for some 10
years and still ask how I’m doing (I went in there back in the day with my
brace and walker). And Time Out waitresses know I like malt vinegar with fish
and chips and Dijon mustard on my mushroom and Swiss burgers (although I have
to supply it). It’s like the old TV show, “Cheers” where everybody knows your
name…
So, I got my prescription, went next door, paid for my
chicken fried rice and went home to eat lunch.
It was raining hard, so I walked inside at 3:00 p.m. It was
not nearly as satisfying.
I drove home on Plymouth road after work and it took me a
couple of minutes more. This will change, I am sure, when they shut down the
expressway.
When I got home, I was pleased NOT to see a sea of mud in
the driveway. I went inside, treated Caley and then went out back to check the
traps. Both had been set off, but no bodies, no blood trails. I think the rain
set them off.
So, I reset them and went back inside.
Sidebar: A while back, my friend Stephanie had started a (what? Club?
Page? I dunno) on Facebook for selling Harley Gear. Occasionally, somebody posts
something like shoes or t-shirts that have nothing (NOTHING) to do with Harleys.
This happened today, so I commented. She private-messaged me back that she can’t
do anything about it because she’s on her cell phone and would I like to be an
administrator on the site?
I said, “Sure” so be forewarned. You post anything on this
site that doesn’t have something to do with Harley-Davidson stuff and I will
drop you like a hot potato!
Okay, okay, I know I’m a Triumph dude, but I can help a
biker chick friend out, right?
I spent about an hour finishing up the compound saw
installation and then called it quits.
I ate the rest of the chicken fried rice for dinner and then
watched TV until bedtime.
When are they shutting down the e-way?
ReplyDeleteTonight (Friday) at 7:00 p.m. They are also replacing all the bridges and overpasses. First to close (tonight) will be Inkster (of course), Farmington and Newburgh.
