It was supposed to start raining at 7:00 a.m. here. But I
drove to work and got there around 7:30 without a drop. It was a bit chilly,
though (50 degrees F. – can I go back to South Carolina?)
It did start raining about 9:00 a.m. and rained hard at
times.
My friend Courtney sent me a text message on the phone with
pictures of the now-stained sofa table. She had followed my suggestions about
either buffing the final coat of polyurethane or using 0000 steel wool to
smooth it out. She used the steel wool option and brought me in the rest of the
package she bought.
We had also talked about Easter eggs on Wednesday (I mentioned I didn’t
color any this year) so she brought me in eight dyed eggs. She said she and her
husband had colored two dozen! Ah, young love…
So, I said I’d probably make creamed eggs on toast with
them. She asked for the recipe (apparently her and Mike have a lot left) so I
searched on this Blog and found it from last year.
I went to Time Out for lunch and had the fish and chips. The
waitress apologized that my malt vinegar was all gone and Dan, the owner, hadn’t
ordered more. Damn! I put that on my mental grocery list.
I went back to work and read a book for the rest of my lunch
hour.
I figured out how to take a photo imbedded in a text message
and sent them to my email. Damn, this technology is confusing at times.
The afternoon passed slowly (as Fridays and paydays often do)
and I finally went home. I didn’t bother trying Hines Drive (it had been
raining, you see) but I got home about 5:30 p.m.
A cookbook I had ordered finally came, “The Complete Cooking
for Two Cookbook” from America’s Test kitchen. I am tired of having too many leftovers
and it was recommended to me.
I treated Caley, changed clothes and watched the news.
When the news ended at 7:00 p.m. I started working on the
computer, balancing my check register, adjusting my budget spreadsheet, etc.
I checked and I only had two pieces of bread left. So, egg
salad it was. I used three of my hard boiled eggs (cut into big chunks),
small-diced celery, some fresh chives, mayo and Dijon mustard to make a nice
thick filling for my toasted bread. It doesn’t sound like much, but it was
quite satisfying.
I had some boxing on the TV, but mostly I skimming my new
cookbook until bedtime.
