Thursday

(and it feels like I’ve been at work a week!)

It was chilly, but not cold Thursday morning. So, I threw a jacket in the truck, but didn’t wear it.

At lunch, I went to Ten Yen and got the Chinese dinner I had thought I would enjoy in West Virginia (almost heaven? I think not…)

Sidebar: It’s like the ancient maps, where unknown places just read “there be dragons.” I imagine something else.

So, I got my usual (as I have mentioned, I don’t need to order here). And I lingered over the jasmine tea.

I opened my fortune cookie (unlike others I could name, I have never, EVER, not gotten a fortune out of the fortune cookie) and it read: “A great man never ignores the simplicity of a child.” Which made me feel good as I have often been called a “child” and not in a good way.

From there, I went to Lowe’s. I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for dry cleaning sponges and despite asking three Lowe’s employees, never found them. So, I moved on. I went to get some rat poison and found they had another variety (that Home Depot didn’t carry). They were called Tomcat and came in their own bait boxes. So, I bought two and a pack of the usual Decon rat and mouse killer trays.

Sidebar: If you were wondering why I switched, it’s because I feel that I am merely feeding the damn rats, not killing them.

I also picked up some Draino. The sink in the downstairs bathroom is running slow.

After last night’s debacle on Plymouth Road, going home (it’s seven freakin' miles, dammit. At 60 mph, it should have taken seven minutes. At 30 mph, it would be 14 minutes. I didn’t get home until 5:35 p.m. You could figure this out yourself, but all I know is it just sucked!) I tried a different route.

I snuck through back alleys to get to Plymouth Road after the turn-off to Ann Arbor Trail. The heavy traffic heading west turns to Ann Arbor Trail, you see.  Then I got onto Hines Drive. The traffic was still heavy, but since there is only one stop light between Newburgh and Inkster, we moved right along.

Despite being about two miles south of Plymouth Road when I existed onto Inkster, I got home at 5:19 p.m. The only downside it that Hines Drive is shut down when it rains (and it’s supposed to rain tomorrow and most of next week).

I changed clothes and went out back. I took both bait boxes into the garage. I removed the duct tape and empty bait trays. I put new trays in one and put on new duct tape. Then I placed it back next to Rick’s fence. I opened the Tomcat bait box and put it under the trailer.

I came back in and washed up. Then I pour Draino down the lower bathroom sink.

I watched the news until it ended at 7:00 p.m., then I sautéed half a diced onion. I added a can of roast beef hash to that and when it was heated through, I had dinner!

I watched the Red Wings lose another playoff game in overtime and then went to bed.
