Well, the rain that was supposed to come around 4:00 p.m. yesterday
never came. And, when I woke up Monday morning, it still hadn’t come. I was
aching like hell from apparently overdoing the outside yard work over the
weekend, BTW.
When I walked outside at 10:00 p.m., it felt like it could
rain at any moment. And, less than a half hour later, it did! The storm (with hard
rain and thunder) lasted about an hour.
I was taking my boots back for a refund, so I ate lunch at
Ten Yen again.
When I got to Dick’s, they examined the boots and saw that
there was dust on the soles. So, they said they couldn’t return my money, just
give me an in-store credit. What’s funny is that before I put them in the box, I
dusted off the toe where I had tried shifting. If only I had wiped off the
bottoms, I would have got my money back!
I didn’t have time to look for another pair of boots, so
they gave me a gift card…
It rained again, hard, during the afternoon. Then they issued
a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado warning for the Livonia area around
4:30 p.m. I drove home in rain, but made it there before the big storm hit,
complete with more thunder and lightning, about 5:45 p.m.
For a change, I didn’t take out the trashcan. The last thing
I wanted was for it to blow over and me to be picking up wet garbage at 7:00
a.m. Tuesday morning.
Sidebar: I was more afraid of hail than tornadoes. I just
wanted to get my truck into the garage!
I called my Brother Jim to see how they were doing. We
chatted for a bit and then hung up.
The rain had stopped, so I went out and trenched the big puddle
in the driveway with the hoe, like I always do. This time it was clogged with those
little red things the maples drop before they leaf out.
Back inside, I warmed up two hot dogs and an ear of sweet
corn for my supper.
I was still stiff and sore from the weekend,
so I took the rest of the night off. I watched an old (1986) movie called Delta
Force, starring Lee Marvin and Chuck Norris. When it was over at 11:00 p.m., I
watched the news and then went to sleep.
