The weatherman said there was a good chance of severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon. I set the trashcan out to the road before I left for work.
I had a 9:00 a.m. meeting in Farmington. I ran into Joyce in
the hall and she asked if we were going to lunch again. I shook my head and
told her the timing was all wrong today.
Since I was up there anyway, I did stop into the Tuesday Morning
store and bought a Kitchenaid stand mixer. They had the same low price as the
one I saw in South Carolina, but they only had a black one. So, I got a black
one.
It still hadn’t rained by the time I left work at 5:00 p.m.,
so my drive home wasn’t any more screwed up than normal. I retrieved my garbage
can and the mail and went inside.
I watered all the container gardens and refilled all the
Aqua Globes. They had cut the grass today, so I set up the game trail camera again.
By then the wind had really picked up, so I buttoned
everything up and waited for the storm.
It hit here a little after 6:00 p.m. There was a little
lightning, but it never really rained hard. It was steady rain until about 8:00
p.m., then it was over and the sun came out! Nothing like the storm of the
century I missed last Monday.
Sidebar: They said on the news that statistically, a rain
event like last week’s storm happens only every 500 years. So, unless global
warming changes things, I figure it’s one and done.
I warmed up some Campbell’s split pea and ham soup for my
dinner. I watched a NCIS rerun, then switched to reading until bedtime.
Glad you finally got your Kitchenaid!
