It rained hard overnight, but at least it was warmer when I
woke up on Monday.
It was only sprinkling on the way into work.
I ended up having to write an email to all our LAN-WAN
folks, reminding them to do a walk-through of the shop and office at Building 3
before setting the alarm after hours or on weekends. I would have just let it
drop, but the shop guys discussed the situation in their Monday morning
meeting. So, I had to use finesse to keep the incident local, if you know what
I mean.
I went to Ten Yen at lunch and got the usual. Then I drove
down to Office Max and got two reams of printer paper for the house. I only
needed one, but they had a special on them if you took two. A trip to Office
Depot last Saturday for paper was another of the errands that got cancelled
because of rain.
I opened my fortune cookie in the afternoon (I was too full
after lunch) and it read: “You have many special gifts, go experiment with
them!” Hmmm…
The day spiraled down from there.
When I got home, I discovered I’d left my phone at work. I
debated just leaving it there, but it would be dead by tomorrow. So, I drove
back to work, grabbed the phone and drove home again.
When I got home, I had a bill from St. Mary Mercy Hospital.
It was for my share of a test my doctor asked me to get done last time I went
to see her. It was for $362.92!
I went to make my shrimp scampi. I opened the baggie of
shrimp I had thawed and damn near puked! Nothing that smelled like that could
be edible! The first half of the bag didn’t smell like that when I used it, so
I must have thawed it wrong or kept it in the fridge too long…
If this is the first day of the rest of my life, it’s gonna
suck!
I threw the shrimp in the trash and ate the rest of the
chili mac and cheese and another half of a turkey sandwich.
I took the rest of the night off and read in the living room
until 10:00 p.m., when I went to bed.
Sorry you had a rough day. Hope Tuesday is better!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of insurance do you have?
ReplyDelete@ Carla: Thanks, but it wasn't, really...
ReplyDelete@ GPF: Blue Cross Blue Shield. I'm waiting for their input before I pay. Seems like I already paid all the crap you have to pay these day, but who knows...
