The Tea Light Holder

I forgot to mention that last weekend, while Carla was vacuuming her car and Jake was doing something else, I had a few moments to kill.

I still had a little log of the black walnut in the garage, left over from the challenge coin stand. I also had a left-over bag of tea lights (from some kind of oil warmer I bought, back in the day).

So I measure a tea light and decided it would fit into a hole 1 ½-inches round by 3/4-inch deep. I cut a round off the log (not easy as the saw blade bound at one point and scared the crap out of me!) Then I drilled it out. Again, it was not easy. I never realized how hard black walnut was.

I tested it out. Worked perfectly! Sooner or later, I’ll rub it down with tung oil, but right now I’m just enjoying it.

  1. Looks good! I heard the saw bind and it was a wake up call even to those who weren't out there.
