It was cold again Thursday morning. And the damn wind out of
the north didn’t help any. I stopped at the Post office at Middle Belt, to drop
in the few Christmas cards that I send to my grandkids that have money in them.
I no longer feel comfortable just putting them in my own mailbox (security
concerns!)
I stopped at the Looney Bakery and got a dozen mixed donuts.
December 11 is Vicky’s birthday (spoiler alert, she’s 30), so I thought I’d
bring her in a treat.
I got to work early enough to finish all my Christmas cards
before 8:00 a.m. So, I can check that off my list.
The sun did eventually come out. It didn’t make it any
warmer, but it looked it, LOL!
I went to Time Out for lunch and got a grilled ham and
cheese sandwich and fries (the soup was “Mexican Goulash,” and that sounded
just too weird). Then I went to Larry’s Foodland (the 24-hour grocery store)
and got some potatoes for the weekend.
I stopped at Home Depot after work and got yet another 1 x
4. The one I had earmarked for the keyboard drawer face turned out to have a
split in it.
Back home, I changed clothes and then looked for my
visqueen. Of course, I couldn’t find it, but I did find two used sheets of it.
I duct-taped them together and put the computer desk on it in the kitchen.
Then I looked for my heavy-duty rubber gloves. I couldn’t
find them, either, but I did find the good visqueen (a little late). So, I used
my kitchen latex gloves, instead.
I opened the main bathroom window a crack and tuned the
kitchen vent fan on. I shut the door going downstairs so the fumes wouldn’t get
to the furnace. I didn’t want to blow the house up!
I stirred up the stain and then poured it into a clean
plastic coffee can. I turned the table upside down and got all the surfaces.
Then I laid it on its back and stained those surfaces. I laid it on its front
and stained the back. Finally, I stained the top.
Sidebar: I used the normal staining process, applying the
stain liberally and then wiping it off with a clean rag.
I had to replace my gloves several times, by the way. They
are not made to withstand stain, apparently.
Note: It looks okay. Personally, I wouldn’t have picked that
light of a stain. But that’s what she asked for.
I finished up just before 10:00 p.m. I was beat. So, I just
ate a piece of toast (so my night pills wouldn’t upset my stomach) and went to
bed.

Looking good!
