It was cold on Wednesday morning. There was some sort of
moisture event (snow? rain?) going on during the drive into work. Too little
for the wipers, but enough to tun the wipers on now and then. More like a mist
or something. But, it wasn’t freezing on the road, so I didn’t care.
My friend Michelle from Facilities brought me over some
soup. It was her take on another co-worker’s (Mark Gomez) mother’s soup: Green
beans and ham.
I went to Time Out at noon. I got a cup of the Hungarian
Stew and two German Potato pancakes. Both were good, but I should have gotten
just one or the other as I was stuffed by the time I left.
The sun had come out by then, so I went and got the truck
washed.
Around 4:30 p.m. a guy came over from the building next door
and said, “I see you got your truck washed.” I said “Yeah, looks like no
precipitation for the next few days, so I thought I would.” He said, “Well, a
bird shit on your door!”
Dammit! It was true!!!
So, when I got home, I got a milk jug of hot water and a rag
and rinsed it off.
I changed clothes and then (finally) got back to work on the
desk. Since I now had the boards cut out for the back, I was able to measure
and cut the shelves to the exact depth.
By then the truck has dried, so I pulled it back inside and
buttoned everything up for the night.
I warmed up that soup and ate that for dinner. As well as the green beans and ham, it had potatoes and onions, with some sour cream stirred into the stock. It was good,
but I’d like to try Mark Gomez’s mother’s as well.
I read in the living room for a while and then went to bed
at 9:30 p.m.
