It was cold Thursday morning. The temperature kept falling
and the winds kept increasing all day long.
It was 14 degrees with light snow at noon when I went to
Time Out (cheeseburger and creamy chicken and potato soup – both excellent).
It wasn't even 12:30 p.m., so I took a ride down through Hines Park to see how it was surviving the winter. I slammed on the brakes when I saw what I swear was a coyote walking across the snow and ice on Newburgh Lake! I watched it until it disappeared from sight (luckily there was no traffic).

It was 12 degrees at 5:00 p.m., driving home.
I got inside and hunkered down.
I warmed up some linguine with clams for dinner and loved it
again.
I watched some taped TV after the news. Then I went around, dealing with the wind
chill warning. I opened the kitchen cupboard door under the sink and let the
faucet downstairs in the laundry tub drip.
Then I added a blanket to the bed and shivered in the sheets
until my body heat warmed the bed up.
But the cold even invaded my dreams. I dreamt about finding
little puppies and kittens shivering out in the snow… weird…
I can't wait to find out what dreams you have this weekend when you go sub-zero. If there was ever a weekend to watch The Thing, this is it.
