I woke up Easter Sunday morning about 5:30 a.m. I went
downstairs with a minimum of fuss (so as not to wake anyone), made a cup of
coffee and read on the couch until Carla came down with Whiskey.
Jake appeared soon after and we all had coffee (well, I had
another one) and chatted.
After a bit, we all went our separate ways to get ready for
the morning’s main event.
I myself shaved, showered and got dressed in my Sunday best.
So, did Jake and Carla (although I think Carla skipped the shaving part – her
face is as smooth as a baby’s butt, LOL!)
Then we headed out.
Sidebar: This was more or less a replay of an Easter, say,
10 years ago. Back then, they lived in Westland and we went to an Irish
restaurant on Haggarty (in Northville?) and had a traditional Irish breakfast
buffet.
But, today, we went to the English Bulldog Pub near Columbia
and had a traditional English breakfast buffet.
We were a bit early, but that only meant we were first in
line. It also meant the baked beans (an English breakfast staple) weren’t out
yet. But we soldiered on…
It was excellent!
Two things, though: The Scotch egg was a little too spicy
for my taste and Carla got something called an Irish egg roll (I passed). She
said it was like a normal egg roll, but with corned beef and cabbage inside. She
said it was good, but it sounded a bit too “hip” to be real, for me.
We got back just before noon.
I started a load of laundry and we all changed into more
comfortable clothes.
After a bit, we all started watching the six, hour-long,
episodes of “The Jinx” about Robert Durst. I’d been following the case in the
news (I’m a news junkie) and was fascinated.
We stopped after the fifth episode and ate dinner. It was a
meatloaf Jake had made, with mashed potatoes and sweet corn. It was delicious!!!
Note to my Brother Carl: I am proud to say that I finished
the entire meal without getting any meatloaf, mashed potatoes or corn up my
nose! So there!!!
We watched the final episode, and then some taped shows
until 8:30 p.m., when Jake and Carla said they were turning in.
I realized I was beat, too. So, I went to bed. I packed most
of my suitcase and then read in bed until about 10:30 p.m. when I went to
sleep.
Congratulations.....Carla has finally taught you to eat meatloaf
ReplyDelete@ GPF: No, my Mother taught me how to eat meatloaf: As quickly as possible so I could get seconds BEFORE all my greedy older brothers asked!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming Dad. Uncle Carl, Happy Easter and you are right...I taught him! :)
ReplyDelete@ Carla: You're welcome. Thanks for having me. I enjoyed the sh*t out of it, as I always do.
ReplyDeleteOne question; Did the Tilted Kilt have an Easter buffet? I really enjoy breasteraunts! Maybe next time...
